New ID Verification Process
For certain CO-OP Shared Branch transactions.
Effective May 1, 2025, all CO-OP Shared Branch users, including DCU members and CO-OP Shared Branch guest members, using an out-of-state CO-OP Shared Branch must have their out-of-state ID, which includes Federal IDs, validated by IDCheck for any withdrawal of funds. Military IDs are exempt.
IDCheck by Velera is a tool designed to enhance security and streamline identity verification for shared branching transactions when visiting another state. This measure helps validate guest members’ identities more effectively, reducing the risk of potential fraud.
What Should You Know?
DCU Members: Please be aware that non-DCU CO-OP Shared Branch Credit Unions may have stricter ID verification requirements for CO-OP Shared Branch transactions.
CO-OP Shared Branch Members visiting DCU Branches: DCU requires that the IDCheck process be completed whenever a Shared Branch Member presents an out-of-state ID and is looking to conduct a withdrawal.
Who Needs to Prepare?
DCU Members visiting a CO-OP Shared Branch location and non-DCU Members visiting a DCU branch.
How Does IDCheck Work?
Upon arrival at a CO-OP Shared Branch location (or even beforehand), visit the IDCheck site or scan the QR code and follow these four steps:
- Enter your credit union’s name or choose from the dropdown list.
- Enter your Member Number and the last 4 digits of your Social Security Number.
- Upload a photo of the front and back of your government-issued ID.
- Your ID will be securely stored and can be reused for future transactions.
- Take a selfie for identity verification.
- Your selfie is also stored securely for future use.
You will receive a unique verification code (valid for 20 minutes). Present the verification code to the Teller to proceed with your transaction.
